The Carol H. Pitchersky Development Fellowship was established by The Leadership Conference Education Fund to honor Carol Pitchersky, a social justice fundraising pioneer whose vision for equality is reflected in the Fellowships goals:
- Expanding the fundraising capacity of the nation’s social justice community, which safeguards the civil rights, human rights and civil liberties of all Americans; and
- Offering opportunities for career training and advancement to build diversity and inclusion in development departments of social justice organizations.
Eligibility Requirements: The Fellowship program identifies and supports diversity in the field.
Fellowship Description: The award consists of a minimum two-year placement with the development staff of The Leadership Conference Education Fund. The Fellow enhances his/her skills in fundraising by participating in the efforts surrounding the various revenue streams that comprise nonprofit fundraising. The Fellow may be placed on periodic assignments to the development sectors of member organizations of the civil and human rights coalition and is also introduced to institutional advancement of the social justice movement by collaborating with the leadership of The Education Fund and the coalition member organizations. The Fellow serves as an associate member of The Education Fund’s fundraising team, assisting in overall development operations while receiving mentoring, and deepening his/her knowledge and understanding of the social justice community.
The Pitchersky Fellowship is guided by the Pitchersky Advisory Committee, which provides oversight for selection and mentorship of the Fellows and steers fundraising initiatives to sustain the program.
